Diversity Statement

Diversity reflects a varied range of learning profiles as well as cultural, economic, educational, and social backgrounds among our students. Stratford Friends School recognizes that each person brings an element of diversity to our campus simply by being a student who learns differently. Each student has many strengths as well as areas that require additional support. Stratford Friends School actively pursues diversity and maintains an inclusive philosophy towards students and staff. We work to create social and cultural diversity through a significant distribution of financial aid that represents approximately thirteen percent of the tuition budget.

Diversity Mission Statement

Stratford Friends School, in alignment with Quaker values, believes that the Inner Light is in all people and that everyone has inherent worth. As such, we strive to foster a diverse and inclusive community that reflects the values of equity, justice, and respect.

We are united in the belief that all children have the ability and desire to learn. It is this belief that enriches our educational experience by bringing different perspectives, ideas, and approaches. All members within our community commit to working together to guide our school to be a reflection of the world we hope to create, one that supports and encourages all learners.

We wish to inspire strength and pride within the community by recognizing and honoring the unique perspective of each member. Our diverse identities extend across ability, ethnicity, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. We lift up these differences and encourage dialogue and meaningful experiences to build upon our core values of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is a lifelong journey that requires ongoing reflection, learning, and action. Diversity, Equity, Justice, and Inclusion Work is our shared responsibility. As a learning environment created specifically for neurodiverse learners, we are steadfast champions in the creation of a just and inclusive community where every member is valued, heard, and supported.
