Frequently Asked Questions
How will this be different for my student?
Shine Bright will seamlessly integrate occupational therapy into our existing academic and social/emotional curriculum. As a member of our faculty, the occupational therapist benefits from the student knowledge-base of our Speech/Language therapist, school psychologist and teachers. Students receiving O.T. will receive an individualized plan which will become a natural part of their day.
How much does Shine Bright cost?
There is no additional charge for the occupational therapy integration into the SFS curriculum.
When will students receive services?
Shine Bright will start in the fall of 2017.
How will I receive information about my student’s services?
One of the benefits of an SFS education is the level of individual attention each student receives which enables us to communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress. Our new occupational therapist will review each student record and will advise as to whether that student needs an occupational evaluation. Should an evaluation be deemed necessary, SFS will send a letter home requesting permission to conduct the evaluation. Any O.T. recommendations will be shared post-evaluation.
Students who receive direct services will have reports available in conferences. Teachers and therapists are available by phone/email. Occupational therapy practices will also be included in each classroom so the entire class can benefit from the increased attention to strengthening motor, social emotional, and cognitive skills as well as the ability to interpret sensory input and information.
Who is the Occupational Therapist who will service Shine Bright?
We are carefully reviewing proposals from O.T. providers and will let you know when a decision has been made.
